چکیده

For visually impaired people, a white cane is an important aid for obtaining information about the surrounding environment. Although should attend this training by orientation & mobility (O&M) specialists to learn proper technique, number of limited. In our previous study, we developed system that enabled techniques using illusory pulling cues. prototype system, grip-type device was with built-in vibrator generate asymmetric vibration stimuli, and cues were fed according position tip. showed positive results, issues related lack user-friendliness associated wired drive impractical gripping method observed. This study more practical white-cane-type O&M training, envisioning independent impaired, which improved above-mentioned issues. Specifically, wireless had mechanism general its validity demonstrated evaluation experiments. addition, paper explains usefulness as per discussion active specialists. The results experiments indicated devices implemented satisfy requirements training.

A detachable electronic device for use with a long white cane to assist with mobility.

Vision-impaired individuals often use a long white cane to assist them with gathering information about their surroundings. However, these aids are generally not used to detect obstacles above knee height. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a low-cost, custom-built electronic device clipped onto a traditional cane can provide adequate vibratory warning to the user of obstacles ab...
